AS/NZS standard 19-33kV-XLPE Insulated MV Power Cable

AS/NZS standard 19-33kV-XLPE Insulated MV Power Cable

Specifications:

19-33kV XLPE-insulated medium-voltage power cables are suitable for fixed installation in power supply networks within both indoor and outdoor environments. They may be installed in cable ducts, on cable trays, or directly buried underground.

Parameter Table

Application :

19-33kV XLPE-insulated medium-voltage power cables are suitable for distribution or secondary transmission networks, typically serving as the primary power supply for commercial, industrial, and urban residential networks. They are suitable for high fault current systems with rated fault currents up to 10kA/1 second. Structures with higher rated fault current capacity can be provided upon request.

Construction:

Conductor material: Options include stranded, solid and compacted copper or aluminium.
Conductor shielding: A semi-conductive compound applied by extrusion over the conductor.
Insulation: Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) compound conforming to AS/NZS 3808. XLPE offers superior heat resistance and abrasion resistance compared to PVC.
Insulation shielding: Extruded semiconductive compound covering the insulation layer.
Maximum operating temperature: Conductors may operate at a maximum continuous temperature of 90°C.
Maximum short-circuit temperature: The cable can withstand a maximum short-circuit temperature of 250°C for up to 5 seconds.
Metal shielding: Typically made from plain annealed copper wire or copper tape.
Metal armouring: Armoured versions include galvanised steel wire (SWA) for multi-core cables and aluminium wire (AWA) for single-core cables.

Sheath Material:

The standard sheath is black PVC compound 5V-90.
LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) alternatives are suitable for indoor, public areas, or other environments requiring fire safety considerations.
An extruded polyamide (nylon) jacket may be added for termite resistance.
HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) outer sheathing may also be used as an alternative.
